Farshid Shojaei

Forensic Engineer

Farshid Shojaei (Shojaeianforoud) serves as a Biomechanical Engineer Intern at MRA Forensic Sciences and is a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah. His research focuses on traumatic brain injury, vascular biomechanics, and the mechanical behavior of soft biological tissues. Through the integration of experimental biomechanics, computational modeling, and finite element analysis, he investigates injury progression and tissue response under both physiological and traumatic loading conditions.

As a researcher in the Head Injury and Vessel Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Utah, Farshid has studied the mechanics of cerebral blood vessels and their role in brain injury. His work includes characterizing soft tissue material properties, developing constitutive models for biological tissues, and applying advanced computational methods to better understand injury mechanisms and tissue damage. His research aims to bridge experimental observations with predictive biomechanical models that can improve injury assessment, prevention, and treatment strategies.

In addition to his research, Farshid has served as a Teaching Assistant for graduate-level biomechanics courses, contributing to instruction in biomechanics theory, computational modeling, and engineering analysis. These experiences have strengthened his expertise in experimental design and enhanced his ability to collaborate across the disciplines of engineering and medicine.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Farshid enjoys playing and watching soccer and volleyball, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
