Nikolas Houtz joined MRA Forensic Sciences in early 2026. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and has a strong passion for problem-solving, technical analysis, and continuous professional development.

Before joining MRA, Nikolas worked in engineering and manufacturing-focused roles across the automation, production, and biomedical industries. His experience includes the design, validation, and integration of automated production equipment and electromechanical control systems, as well as CAD modeling, data analysis, programming, and custom hardware and software integration. He is highly hands-on, mechanically inclined, and enjoys tackling complex technical challenges through practical troubleshooting and ongoing learning.

Since joining MRA, Nikolas has assisted with vehicle inspections, event data recorder (EDR) imaging and analysis, scene documentation, and traffic accident reconstruction. He has gained experience working with Bosch CDR systems, FARO software, photogrammetry, video analysis techniques, and a variety of vehicle data collection and documentation procedures.

Outside of work, Nikolas enjoys mountain biking, riding and maintaining motorcycles and ATVs, working on personal engineering and design projects, participating in recreational sports, and spending time with family and friends.
