Matthew D. Mecham
President
Matthew D. Mecham serves as the
President of MRA Forensic Sciences and has been with the company since
1996. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
(1994) and a Master of Science in Bioengineering (1996), with an emphasis in
Biomechanics.
Matt holds several licenses and
certifications including being a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), an
accredited motor vehicle Accident Reconstructionist through the Accreditation
Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR), is a licensed FAA
Part 107 Pilot, and is a Certified English XL Tribometrist (CXLT)
in the area of slip and fall accident reconstructions.
Matt’s prior employment included working at the Orthopedic Biomechanics Institute (OBI), and The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (TOSH), where he worked as a Research Engineer. He worked with athletes from the United States Freestyle Aerial Ski Jumping Team studying the biomechanics of head impacts and brain injury. Matt co-authored a grant from the United States Olympic Committee, to perform neuropsychological evaluations to determine if the cumulative effects of repeated head impacts were measurable.
Matt has consulted on several thousand
cases involving motor vehicle collisions, where he has offered opinions related
to reconstruction, biomechanics, human factors, injury causation analysis, and
liability. He has evaluated cases involving motor vehicles, motorcycles,
bicycles, commercial vehicles, pedestrians, and skiing incidents. He
regularly downloads and interprets evidence stored in event data recorders
(“black boxes”) from motor vehicles following collisions. Matt also
investigates premises liability incidents, occupational accidents, and
slip/trip and falls.
Matt has been qualified to offer
expert witness testimony in many states throughout the United States.
